I absolutely would have taken a course like this one below where I could handle ancient objects and conjure up civilizations from pottery shards at the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures at the University of Chicago when I was a student there.
(I was not deprived of experiences like this though. When I studied Indian art, my art history professor took us to the Art Institute of Chicago for a private session with museum curators to examine and even handle Indian paintings.)
